Sean Sonnabend at USGBC Live: "The Intersection of Passive House, Equity and Affordability"
Join Sean Sonnabend, PE in conversation with MSR Design for "The Intersection of Passive House, Equity and Affordability" next Wednesday, June 9 at USGBC Live.
The presentation, taking place 2 CT/3 ET, discusses the work AKF and MSR are doing with Guadalupe Alternative Program (GAP) and Change Inc. Students enrolled in GAP's alternative high school curriculum are being taught construction skills and are building four single family homes designed by the MSR/AKF team.
This case study explores the intersection of high-performance design based on Passive House, affordability, and constructability in a pro-bono project. MSR agreed to design the homes pro-bono if GAP targeted Net Zero Energy to make homeownership more affordable over time and teach students best practices in construction.
